This comedy play tells the story of a local Amateur Dramatic Society, who are in deep trouble. The membership has dwindled to four – the audiences aren’t much bigger – and if they don’t come up with some rent money soon, they’re going to be thrown out. “There’s only one thing that sells tickets these days” argues Gordon the Chairman. “Sex!”. Thus begins the chaotic and hilarious build-up to an evening of extraordinary home-grown drama – an evening the locals will never forget!

We’ll be performing this play as part of the 2012 Swavesey Festival on the 20th June, but we also intend to tour this production around some other local villages. Further news will follow in the near future once those dates and venues are confirmed.

We’ve also had suggestions from the people that run our rehearsal halls about where we’ll be able to put up posters and flyers in the places we tour to, so we will need some help from our members to make this happen. Please contact Chris Avery for info.

The one-act play received some good and vary valid comments from the adjudicator, which should enable the production to do even better at Cambridge Festival on the 17th April. She was most impressed with the sound design and commented how it was the best sound she’d heard in a while!

The guys are doing great, and certainly looking the part – I wouldn’t want to meet that Ben Jonson on a dark night! A few more tweaks to the set and a final edit of the soundtrack, and we’ll be ready to go. After suffering a minor set back with Chris Hay breaking both arms in a freak cycling accident a couple of weeks ago, our one-act play is back on track with John Pickering taking on the role of William Shakespeare.

Our first performance is on the 23rd March at Sawston Youth Centre, and we’d appreciate as much support as possible from our members and friends. More details can be found here.

The show was a tremendous success, with near sell-outs on more than one occasion – and it was brilliant to see so many new and old faces coming to see our show and we hope you come back for more in the future.
