Drama Festivals 2009

Written by Chris Hay on . Posted in Festivals, Productions

Once again it is our intention to enter both the Sawston and Cambridge One Act Drama Festivals. Sawston dates are 26-28 March and the Cambridge dates, 20-25 April 2009. We would perform during each of these periods and are given adjudication on our performance at each.

We have chosen a ghostly thriller this year called Tunnel Vision by Sheila Hodgson. A group of people trying to get home after a night out find themselves on the London underground when mysterious things begin to happen. The cast requirements call for 5 people as follows:

  • 1 Teenage Girl- acting age 18/19
  • 1 Male – acting age late 20s early 30s
  • 1 Female – acting age late 20s early 30s
  • 1 Male – acting age 40/50s
  • 1 Female – acting age 40/50s

In addition the play presents a real challenge for lighting, sound and set design.

To get things underway we are having a read through on 2 December at 1 Oatlands Avenue Bar Hill and then Auditions on 9 December at 34 Acorn Avenue Bar Hill. We will begin rehearsals as soon as the Pantomime has finished and these will be held on Monday and Wednesday each week until the Sawston Festival. Festival plays demand concentrated effort in a short rehearsal period and all cast are required at all rehearsals.

If you are up for the challenge then please come along to the read through and see if you like the play. If you would like more information then please feel free to contact Bob Bright on 01954 201201.
